About Rod Stewart
Roderick David Stewart, known to the world simply as Rod Stewart, was born on January 10, 1945, in London. Though he worked a string of odd jobs in his youth, his introduction to music came when he began joining bands in the 1960s. As part of the Jeff Beck Group, Rod Stewart was able to tour the United States and with them released two albums. His first solo album was entitled The Rod Steward Album, and gained him the attention he needed to spark what would become a hugely successful career. Though he was still performing with another group he had joined known as The Faces, Stewart’s solo career was taking off, and he released his second album Gasoline Alley in 1970.
In total, Rod Stewart has released 29 studio albums, most of which have gone Platinum or Double Platinum in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the U.K. He has sold over 130 million albums worldwide and was featured as #33 on Q Magazine’s “Top 100 Singers of All Time”. His top songs include “Have I Told You Lately”, “Maggie May”, and “Tonight’s the Night”.
