Silk is an R&B vocal group from Atlanta, Georgia and were popular in the 1990’s. The group was formed by American singer, Keith Sweat. Silk consists of Tim Cameron, Gary “Big G” Glenn Johnathen “John-John” Rasboro, Jimmy Gates and lead singer Gary “Lil G” Jenkin. The group released their first debut album, Lose Control under Sweat’s record label, Elektra Records in 1992. Off the album was their first hit single,‘’Freak Me’ which reached the number 1 position on the US Billboard Hot 100 and US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks in 1993. Presently, the track has 28 million plays on Spotify, still being a smash hit since it’s release. Lose Control also contained Silk’s biggest hits such as ‘Happy Days’ and ‘Girl U For Me’. These three hit singles turned their debut album to a certified platinum record. This was followed by three albums, ‘Silk’ in 1995 and ‘Tonight’ in 1999 and ‘Love Sessions’ in 2001. The band took a hiatus from making music then began to produce under their own label in 2003 called Silktime. They released a cover album, ‘Always & Forever’ in 2006 and ‘Quiet Storm’ in 2016. The group has stayed intact since the formation of their group.
